OUR STORY

With our heads in the city, and our hearts in the bush, Ali, Matt & Adam have created ‘Bowes Brothers’ – a unique collection of silver and gold hand crafted jewellery that will help contribute sustainable funds for trusted Friends of Bowes Brothers. As eco warriors we hope to protect and rehabilitate wildlife and educate local communities. We want to be actively making a difference. It is our way of paying it forward, responding to the wholesale poaching and wildlife crime devastating Africa.

Mabula Ground Hornbill Project

The Mabula Ground-Hornbill Project is working to slow the decline of this highly endangered species by. Harvesting and assisting with the hand-rearing of redundant second-hatched chicks that normally die of starvation in the wild nests. Re-wilding of the hand-reared chicks by established group in bush training schools. Reintroducing these rescued bird back into areas where they have become locally extinct, once the original threats in those areas have been mitigated. Augmenting of non-viable groups in the wild. Providing artificial nests for wild groups with no or inadequate nests. Researching genetics and behaviour. All in all, inspiring work to educate the public and increase awareness for this super-vulnerable bird.
